  • Superb bargain bundle of four Edwardian Baby Gowns. They have been laundered and all are in excellent used condition - see individual descriptions below. The photos do not do these lovely items justice!

Superb Bargain Bundle of 4 Edwardian Baby Gowns.  
 
They have all been laundered and all are in excellent used condition. 
 
Dress (A) - Photos 2, 3 and 4
A beautiful hand sewn quality gown with double seams and a laundry identification name and history of the same family mentioned in Gown 'b'. Dating it to around the 1900-1909 period. 
The double cuffs have a deep frill and an inner lace frill which can be gathered and two tiny cloth covered metal buttons/loops. The back of the gown's opening also goes all the way down and stops just on the beginning of the 4" trim on the bottom of the skirt. This trim has a pretty Lilly type pattern. 
The back opening of the skirt has a selvedge on both sides, so would not need hemming. There are also two tiny cloth covered metal buttons and button holes spaced along the length of this opening. These type of openings became very popular as it made changing the baby a lot quicker and easier. The neck edge is small but doesn't appear to have needed any fastening.
 
Condition:  Excellent. The back bodice is missing its two tiny buttons however, the loops are there. No holes or tears. Metal cloth buttons are worn. One small barely noticeable light stain on the frill on the back of the skirt.  Size: 18" chest  36" long.
 
Dress (B) - Photos 5 and 6
Another Beautiful hand sewn gown made with a quality fabric and great attention to detail, including double seams. This Gown has a laundry name on the inside of the back bodice. I have learnt that the family who this gown originated from, lived in India for many years and I can date it to around the 1900-1909 period.
The cuffs are double, having a frill and an inner lace trim which can be gathered. Each cuff has a very tiny cloth button and a loop. 
The back part of the bodice also has two tiny cloth covered metal buttons with closure loops. The neck is rather small and has very narrow fastenings.  I believe it would not notice if the fastening was removed.
The back of the gown's opening goes all the way down the skirt and stops just on the beginning of the 3.25" deep trim on the bottom of the skirt. This opening has a selvedge on both sides, so would not need hemming. There are also two tiny cloth covered buttons and button holes spaced along the length of this opening. As mentioned above, these openings became popular as it made changing the baby a lot quicker and easier.
Condition: excellent with just two small holes lost within the skirt frill. Cloth on the metal buttons worn.
Size:  18" chest.  36" long
 
Dress (C) Photos 7 and 8 
Fine light weight sheer fabric, possibly cotton muslin. Short opening to the back of the bodice containing three tiny M.O.P buttons, two button holes and one loop. The neck is quite small and could easily be used with the existing fastening removed. 
 
Condition: Very good. Small tear close to one side to the back of the skirt. I have found on close inspection a barely noticeable and clever 'period' darn which is just beneath the main pattern of the bodice. Size: Chest 20"  31" long.
 
Dress (D) - Photo 10
Very pretty pattern to the lined bodice, short opening to the back bodice, good sturdy fabric.
Condition: approx. 3 small light and barely noticeable storage marks, which I haven't attempted to remove.  Size: 20" chest. 32" long
