Stumpwork Embroidery - Chinese Mythological Fenghuang Birds

Large Antique 'Stumpwork' Embroidery Picture Depicting Two Beautiful Birds.

Believed to represent male & female Chinese mythological 'Fenghuang' birds. 
Finely executed needlework with coloured silks on a black ground.
The bodies of the birds are padded and raised giving a 3D effect.
The eyes are most realistic - unsure as to how this has been achieved.
Believed to be of an age and of Oriental origin.

Housed under glass within a very heavy gilt frame.

Antique framed embroidery.
Embroidery in very good condition.
Colourways good with slight age discolouration to the silks and ground
The gessoed frame has some damage - the most significant areas have been shown in the photos..
The backing papers to the frame appear to have been replaced but are worn.
